Tennessee Department of Transportation Deed Modification and Section 26a Request for a Bridge Replacement
Watauga Reservoir, at the State Route 159 crossing of the Elk River at river mile 7.23, Carter County, Tennessee
TVA received a TDOT request for a state road bridge replacement project impacting TVA flowage easement rights that will require a deed modification and a TVA Section 26a permit.
The state of Tennessee has determined that the existing bridge is structurally deficient. TDOT is requesting a deed modification on 1.3307 acres of TVA Flowage Easement for the construction of the new bridge. Additional temporary construction easements totaling 0.0782 acre will be required during the construction of the new bridge. The existing bridge will be removed. Riprap will be placed to protect the bridge foundation and reservoir banks from erosion.
