TVA To Temporarily Close Road Over Wilson Dam on Nov. 19-20

FLORENCE, Ala. – Traffic across Wilson Dam on State Highway 133 near Florence, Ala., will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 19-20, to allow for routine inspection of the roadway.

The closure will begin at 8 a.m. CST on Tuesday. A complete closure is necessary to help ensure the safety of motorists and the inspection crew. Access should be restored by noon on Wednesday.

In the event of inclement weather, the work may be extended or rescheduled. Motorists should expect delays and may want to consider another route. Signage will be placed on both sides of the bridge and gates will be in place.

The Tennessee Valley Authority is a corporate agency of the United States that provides electricity for business customers and local power distributors serving 9 million people in parts of seven southeastern states. TVA receives no taxpayer funding, deriving virtually all of its revenues from sales of electricity. In addition to operating and investing its revenues in its electric system, TVA provides flood control, navigation and land management for the Tennessee River system and assists local power companies and state and local governments with economic development and job creation.
