TVA To Begin Guntersville Dam Boat Ramp Renovation
October 31, 2006
GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. – TVA will renovate the Guntersville Dam boat launching ramp this winter to improve safety and boater access to the reservoir.
The boat ramp, which is located below the dam on the south side of the river, will remain open until January, when it will be closed for approximately three months to complete the project. Crews will begin moving equipment into the area in November in preparation for tearing out the old ramp, extending the jetty and re-grading the site in January.
When the ramp is closed, boaters can access the reservoir downstream of the dam on the north side of the river about 15 miles away.
TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely self financed. TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve approximately 8.6 million consumers in seven southeastern states.
