November 29, 2005
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Rachel Beaty Crickmar of TVA’s Economic Development staff has been named regional development specialist for the Upper Cumberland region of Tennessee.
Crickmar will work with distributors of TVA power, community leaders, and state and regional economic development partners to create, sustain and foster job growth. Her responsibilities include assisting prospective or expanding industries, providing financial and technical services and helping communities support and grow existing businesses.
The Upper Cumberland region includes several Middle Tennessee counties on the Cumberland Plateau and a few counties in East Tennessee.
Crickmar has been with TVA since 2001, working most recently to support the target industry marketing program. She is a native of Jamestown, Tenn., and has a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Tennessee and a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from Tusculum College.
“We’re excited that Rachel has accepted the position of regional development specialist for our economic development team,” said TVA Senior Vice President of Economic Development John Bradley. “With her experience at TVA and in Economic Development’s marketing efforts, Rachel has the knowledge and qualifications required to recruit new businesses and assist expanding companies in her home region.”
Crickmar succeeds Sheila Brooks, who is now community development project manager in TVA’s Economic Development organization in Nashville. In her new role, Brooks will work throughout the Tennessee Valley to enhance TVA’s efforts in preparing communities for economic growth and industrial recruitment.
In fiscal year 2005, TVA and its regional strategic development partners helped companies attract or retain more than 57,000 jobs and leverage investments exceeding $3.6 billion.
TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely self- financed. TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve 8.6 million consumers in seven southeastern states.
