TVA Employees Move to One Johnson City Location

December 15, 2004

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – To optimize the use of TVA office space while minimizing current and future costs, several TVA organizations are moving to one location in Johnson City.

TVA’s new Johnson City office, located at 106 Tri-Cities Business Park Drive, will house the Customer Service Center, the Holston-Cherokee-Douglas Watershed Team, and the TVA Police Cherokee and Fort Patrick Henry units. Field staff from TVA’s transmission/power supply, economic development and facilities management organizations will also be located there.

Approximately 50 employees will use the new office, and most employees will begin work there Thursday, Dec. 16.

TVA’s Customer Service Center may be reached by calling (423) 467-3855. The Holston-Cherokee-Douglas Watershed Team, which serves Boone, Fort Patrick Henry, South Holston, Watauga, Wilbur, Cherokee, Douglas and Nolichucky reservoirs and the French Broad River, may be contacted at (423) 467-3800. The transmission/power supply office may be reached at (423) 467-3821. The TVA Police Cherokee and Fort Patrick Henry units may be contacted at (423) 467-3890.

TVA is now in the third year of implementing its Strategic Facilities Plan, during which it has vacated facilities not in use or for which there are no future plans. This is being done through sales, subleases and termination of leases of TVA facilities across the Tennessee Valley.

Since 2001, through consolidations, sales, subleases and other initiatives, TVA has reduced its office space by about 500,000 square feet for a total savings of more than $20 million. In addition to the direct proceeds from these transactions, TVA obtains additional benefits by reducing or eliminating maintenance costs on these properties. All of these savings contribute to the reduction of TVA’s financial obligations and increased financial flexibility.

TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely self-financed. TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve approximately 8.5 million consumers in seven southeastern states.
