TVA Donates $5,000 to Northeast Mississippi Community College
December 7, 2004
BOONEVILLE, Miss. – TVA Customer Service General Manager Terry
Kemp today presented Northeast Mississippi Community College with a donation
of $5,000 to help strengthen the quality of technical education at the college.
The college plans to use the donation to purchase a computer networking
system for students to get hands-on experience setting up control systems in
wireless environments -- a growing segment of computer technology.
“This grant from TVA will allow our students to develop their skills in a
wireless world,” said Northeast Mississippi Community College President Johnny
Allen. “No longer will control systems be confined to physical connections with
the equipment that they regulate. Our students need these skills to succeed.”
”TVA is glad to be able to support the local community and strengthen our
partnership with Northeast Mississippi Community College,” said Kemp. “This
donation will help area students prepare for future career opportunities.”
TVA recruits from local colleges, including NEMCC, for its craft and
apprentice programs.
