TVA Asks for Comments on Proposed Transmission Project
July 15, 2014
BATESVILLE, Miss. – The Tennessee Valley Authority is asking the public for input about planned upgrades to the transmission system that would increase power reliability for the western Tallahatchie Valley Electric Power Association area.
TVA is proposing to build about 40 miles of transmission line from TVA’s West Batesville substation to Tallahatchie Valley EPA’s proposed West Charleston Substation and existing North Oakland Substation. The lines would be built on steel pole structures on a combination of new 100- and 150-foot right of way. Several alternate line routes are under consideration.
Public input is encouraged, beginning with two open houses. Both will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The first will be Monday, July 28, 2014, at the Batesville Civic Center, 290 Civic Center Drive, Batesville, Mississippi. The second will be Tuesday, July 29, in the Family Life Center at the Charleston Church of God, 703 East Main St., Charleston, Mississippi.
Detailed maps showing the different locations being considered for the proposed system upgrades will be available. TVA staff will answer questions, discuss concerns and receive comments. More information is available at http:/www.tva.com/transmissionprojects.
