March 27, 2014
ELGIN, Ala. – Motorists should be aware of temporary lane closures several days next week on Alabama Highway 101 over Wheeler Dam south of Elgin, Ala., beginning on Monday, March 31.
The lane restrictions will occur daily between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. CDT, and are necessary to ensure the safety of the public while crews perform maintenance on the Intake Crane, which crosses over the highway on the south end of the dam.
The roadway will remain open to traffic, but travel may be limited to one lane during the work period. Traffic congestion is possible and motorists should be prepared for possible delays.
Both lanes of traffic will be restored each day after 3 p.m., and after the maintenance is completed on Thursday, April 3.
