Single Lane Traffic Expected Over Hiawassee Dam Beginning June 24

June 20, 2014

MURPHY, N.C. – Motorists should be aware of construction activities that will restrict traffic flow to one lane on State Road 1314 over the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Hiawassee Dam northwest of Murphy, N.C., beginning on Tuesday, June 24.

The lane restriction will be in place during weekdays and is necessary to ensure the safety of the public while crews install new equipment at the dam.

Travel will be limited to one lane during the work period. Traffic congestion is possible and motorists should be prepared for possible delays.

Both lanes of traffic will be restored for the weekend period from Friday, June 27, through Sunday, June 29. The lane restriction will resume on Monday, June 30. All work is expected to be complete and both lanes of traffic restored prior to the Independence Day holiday weekend.
