TVA Provides Update on Integrated Resource Plan
June 11, 2014
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Valley Authority will hold a public meeting and webinar on June 18 in Knoxville to review progress and preview next steps in updating the Integrated Resource Plan.
The IRP will help TVA determine options for balancing the region’s power needs for the next 20 years. As part of the study, TVA will assess the environmental impacts associated with the implementation of the Integrated Resource Plan, which was last updated in 2011.
The meeting on Wednesday, June 18, will be held at the West Tower of TVA headquarters, 400 Summit Hill Drive, from 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m. EDT.
TVA will use the environmental impact statement process to elicit and prioritize the energy planning values and concerns of stakeholders. TVA will identify issues, trends, events, and tradeoffs affecting TVA’s energy planning, and will evaluate and compare alternative portfolios of energy resource options in the updated plan.
TVA will provide opportunities for public review and comment on the IRP before it is presented to the TVA board of directors in spring 2015, and will ensure that TVA’s evaluation of alternative energy resource strategies reflects a full range of stakeholder input.
Public comments and questions may be submitted on the project website at http://www.tva.gov/irp, or by email at IRP@tva.gov.
Those who have special needs who wish to attend the June 18 meeting need to contact TVA at least a week in advance at 1- 865-632-6113.
