Beginning on Monday, July 7, TVA will begin replacing the existing HESCO barriers, commonly known as the sand baskets, with a permanent concrete wall near Cherokee Dam. Although most public areas will remain open during construction, access to those areas will change for public safety.

This media briefing will provide an overview of the project, including TVA’s efforts to maintain access to recreational areas at the dam while ensuring the safety of the public.
