TVA, Agencies to Update Public on Kingston Ash Recovery

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Valley Authority, along with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, will hold a public meeting on progress of the Kingston Ash Recovery Project and long-term monitoring plans.

The meeting will be held Thursday, May 30, from 5:30-7 p.m. EDT, in the auditorium of Roane County High School in Kingston. The auditorium is in Building B on the Spring Street side of the high school.

An EPA representative will provide an update on the recovery project and outline the Long-Term Monitoring Plan for assessing ecological health of areas affected by the 2008 ash spill at Kingston Fossil Plant.

Representatives from TVA, EPA, TDEC and the Roane County Community Advisory Group will be available to provide information and answer questions.

Public comments on the Long-Term Monitoring Plan may be emailed to TVA at, or mailed to Tennessee Valley Authority, P.O. Box 40, Kingston, TN 37763.

The Long-Term Monitoring Plan and other documents associated with the project will be posted in the Administrative Record on May 28 at The documents also are located at the Kingston and Harriman libraries.
