April 25, 2006

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Jerome Terrell, former director of economic development for the Nashville Chamber of Commerce, has joined TVA’s Economic Development staff as regional development specialist for the Middle Tennessee region of the Tennessee Valley.

Terrell will work with distributors of TVA power, community leaders, and state and regional economic development partners to create, sustain and foster job growth. His responsibilities include assisting prospective or expanding industries, providing financial and technical services and helping communities support and grow existing industries.

As director of Economic Development for the Nashville chamber, Terrell recruited business from other markets into a 10-county Middle Tennessee area and facilitated expansions for existing businesses and industry.

TVA’s Middle Tennessee region includes Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Montgomery, Robertson, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson and Wilson counties.

Terrell is a Nashville native and has a business degree from the University of Tennessee.

“Jerome’s comprehensive business expertise and experience will be a tremendous asset in working with our communities and partners to help TVA attract new targeted businesses and expand existing businesses in the region,” said TVA Senior Vice President of Economic Development John Bradley.

TVA Economic Development helps make the Tennessee Valley a better place to live and work by partnering with distributor customers of TVA power, regional entities, state agencies and local communities to recruit new industries and expand existing businesses. In fiscal year 2005, TVA’s economic development efforts helped attract or retain 57,000 Valley jobs and generate more than $3.6 billion in capital investment. Economic development is a major part of TVA’s core mission.

TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely selffinancing with revenues of $7.8 billion in 2005. TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve approximately 8.6 million consumers in seven southeastern states. TVA also manages the Tennessee River and its tributaries to provide multiple benefits, including flood damage reduction, navigation, water quality and recreation.
