John J. McCormick Jr.

Senior Vice President, Fossil Power Group

John McCormick was named Senior Vice President of Operations for TVA’s Fossil Power Group in October 2008.

He joined TVA in December 2007 as Vice President of Operations for TVA’s Fossil Power Group.

McCormick’s responsibilities as Vice President of Operations included overseeing the operation, maintenance, engineering, and outage activities for 10 of the 11 fossil plants, and ensuring safe, reliable, cost effective and environmentally acceptable production of power. In addition to directing the operation of fossil fleet which included the overall business planning, he played a key role in the power planning process.

McCormick has 26 years of experience in fossil, hydro and nuclear industry. Prior to joining TVA, he spent over 25 years with Exelon, where his most recent position was Director of Operations. John had the accountability for the operations of six fossil plants and two hydro facilities in four states with a combined capacity of 10,000 megawatts. He previously served as General Manager of gas, coal, and hydro fleet generation assets.

McCormick holds a B.S. in Engineering from Widener University.

McCormick served on the Board of Trustees for Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades. He also served as the past President of the Board of Directors at the Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenway.

McCormick and his wife Patricia, have one son.
