Robin (Rob) E. Manning
Executive Vice President, Power System Operations
Manning joined TVA in August 2008 as Executive Vice President, Power System Operations.
He had previously been Vice President of Field Operations for Duke Energy’s Power Delivery business. In that job, Manning led the operation of all transmission and distribution (T&D) system activities in Duke’s Carolinas Region, which serves 2.2 million residential, commercial, and industrial meters.
He joined Duke in 1978 and held increasingly responsible positions in the T&D aspects of Duke’s electric and gas businesses, including General Manager of Electric Distribution.
From 2000 to 2003 Manning served as Vice President of Engineering for Duke Energy Gas Transmission (DEGT), the Houston-based Duke Energy business unit responsible for the company’s interstate natural-gas pipeline operations.
Strongly committed to a safe workplace, he led Duke’s T&D safety-oversight function while participating in an industry-wide Contractor Safety Initiative. Manning has been very involved with Duke’s Human Resources Advisory Council, which is charged with developing optimum workforce strategies.
He also led T&D activities associated with the Duke Energy/Cinergy merger to achieve savings and value-added benefits.
Manning earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from North Carolina State University and a master of business administration degree from Queens College in Charlotte, N.C.
