Award Nominations

WHAT

This practice defines the process for handling award nomination solicitations received throughout TVA.

WHO

All TVA organizations.

WHY

TVA receives many solicitations for award nominations. This practice will help to ensure that:

  • These solicitations receive appropriate review and coordination.
  • All qualified employees are considered when a nomination is made.
  • The most qualified employee(s) represent TVA.

HOW

All award nomination solicitations coming to TVA will be forwarded to Human Resources Information Services (HRIS), Corporate Human Resources, ET 8A-K, for coordination and handling.

If a nomination is to be submitted, the appropriate manager in the nominating organization should sign the application and get appropriate approvals. Approval levels for award nominations will be as follows:

Award of Excellence,Tennessee Association of Partners In Education
Federal Chairman Innovations in American Government
Engineer of the Year Award
National Chairman RIT/USA Today Quality Cup
Top Industry Practice Award
International Chairman Corporate University Leadership Award

*The Approving Officer is not required to sign the application but should indicate approval of the nomination.

If an award does not fit into one of the above categories or is not listed on the External Awards Opportunity matrix, contact Human Resources Information Services for guidance.

If any award is expected to draw significant media coverage, the Board of Directors should approve the nomination.

The Executive Vice President, Administrative Services, will determine whether the Board of Directors should be notified of the nomination.

ROLES

Human Resources Information Services, Corporate Human Resources

  • Receive all award solicitations and nominations from throughout TVA
  • Determine appropriate organization(s) to receive award solicitation for possible nomination
  • When award nomination has been made, review for completeness and forward to appropriate official for approval

Human Resource Service Managers

  • Serve as organization contact for HRIS regarding appropriate organization to receive award nomination solicitations and in obtaining appropriate approvals.
