Purchase of Power Generated at Sand Valley Sanitary Landfill
DeKalb County, Tennessee
On May 31, 2013, TVA completed an environmental assessment (EA) and issued a finding of no significant impact for a proposed power purchase agreement for electricity generated at the Sand Valley Sanitary Landfill.
Bio Energy Alabama LLC is planning to install and operate three landfill gas-fueled generators, with a total capacity of 4.8 megawatts. The new generators would be installed on a previously disturbed area adjacent to the existing landfill facility. The EA evaluates the potential environmental impacts of the installation and operation of the new generators and associated auxiliary systems.
