Tennessee State Route 15 (US 64) Lawrenceburg Bypass
Lawrence County, Tennessee
On September 10, 2007, TVA issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and a Section 26a permit for the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s (TDOT) proposed 6.5-mile Lawrenceburg Bypass section of State Route 15 (US 64). This highway comprises parts of Segments 7 and 8 of a larger TDOT highway improvement project for 45.5 miles of SR 15 in Wayne County, Lawrence, and Giles Counties. The Lawrenceburg Bypass section would be constructed on new right-of-way. TVA approval is necessary for the several proposed stream crossings on tributaries to Shoal Creek, Dry Land Creek, and West Fork Sugar Creek.
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and TDOT jointly prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) dated April 6, 2000, and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) dated October 28, 2002, for the entire 45.5-mile improvement project. TVA was a cooperating agency in the preparation of the FHWA/TDOT EA and has subsequently issued FONSIs and Section 26a permits for actions associated with Segments 1, 4, 6, and 9 of the project.
A copy of the FHWA/TDOT final EA and FONSI can be provided upon request. Contact:
